Floral Felt

Hello and welcome,

Gosh, how quickly this month has gone - I'm so deeply immersed in learning a new job that I've just not found the time when I get home to do anything else other than try and unwind - some days successfully, others not so much! The upshot of not being able to switch my brain off has resulted in some very strange dreams I can tell you! I've forgotten quite how stressful it is learning something completely new.....but it will get better, I'm only 3 weeks in so time will make things easier, and I'm thankful to actually have a job :-)

Today I thought I'd show you how cool the Spiral Flower Die turns out when you use felt. I love using the die with card, but using the Bigz and Original dies in the Big Shot means you can use other materials too. I've used a heat gun to stick the felt together and hey presto a very quick and effect looking flower....or small bouquet of flowers. I'm just thinking I might have a go at spritzing them with some diluted re-inker to see what effect that might have on them, it might look quite effective - going off to check now :-)

Supplies used:
Dies - Spiral Flower Originals, Autumn Accents Bigz

Ribbon and Trim - Burlap Ribbon, Natural and Old Olive Two-Tone Trim
Misc - Tag-A-Bag Gift Box

Have a great week -weekend, hopefully the gorgeous late summer sunshine will last a while longer yet.
Thanks for stopping by.

Blended Sweetbriar Rose

Hello and welcome
...so yesterday and today my wonderful team mate Colette and I held our blendabilities class, and we both had a fabulous time with 2 groups of lovely and very talented ladies. Colette also treated us all to some of her fantastic baking - I had coffee and pecan cake 2 days in a row ;-) very naughty but so very delicious I just couldn't resist! Thanks Colette x

We used the Sweetbriar Rose stamp on a couple of the cards as it's a great one to colour in using the blendabilities pens. The ladies also created a home décor piece with the Swallowtail butterfly in a frame, which was inspired by the super talented Elizabeth Shannon. The butterflies were all different and all equally beautiful - I'm hoping we'll get a look at the one created by Debby when she's finished it as the background she created for the butterfly was wonderful.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Sweetbriar Rose, Hardwood, Everything Eleanor, Itty Bitty Banners, Blooming with Kindness

Card - Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Old Olive
Ink Pads - Memento, Sahara Sand, Old Olive
Pens - Blendabilities collections - Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight
Framelit Dies - Bitty Banners
Misc - Tea Lace Paper Doilies

Have a great week ahead.
Thanks for visiting.

Class card

Hello and welcome,

As my lovely SU team mate Colette and I have our blendabilities class coming up this week I thought I'd share one of the cards we'll be making. The flowers from the Everything Eleanor stamp set work very well for colouring in as the 'light and shade' has already been worked out for you.

This is simplified variation of a card featured in the annual catalogue, and I can already see some of the talented ladies who'll be coming along will be putting their own unique slant on the design - I love that though :-)

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.

Holiday Home Sneak Peek

Hello again,

A little sneak peek for you today. I've been having a play with some new items which will be available to purchase in the upcoming seasonal catalogue which launches at the beginning of September. Can you spot what's new? There's a fab star embossing folder, and Holiday Homes, a photopolymer stamp set which has matching framelits available too.

I also had to sneak in a little bit of Kinda Eclectic, the sun image also makes a pretty cool night time glow from a street lamp I thought! Maybe could be executed a little better but I'm sure you get the idea.

My first Christmas card of the year!

Thanks for taking time to stop by.

Sour Cream Carton

Hello and welcome,

I hope I'll be forgiven for being mostly absent at the moment. Hopefully I'll get back to a routine very soon, but in the meantime life means it's as and when...

Today I've been making some samples for an upcoming class and I've been told no Kinda Eclectic...what's that all about eh....my favourite set at the moment and I'm not allowed to use it! You know who you are and you also know you need it, resistance is futile :-)

This sour cream carton is a little 'thank you' for the ladies who'll be attending my upcoming class. I've also made a matching card using a left over embellishment. Not a great photo and for some reason I can't seem to upload the other one I have so I hope you sort of get the idea!

Thanks so much for visiting.

Blendabilities - late to the party!

Hello and welcome,

I have to admit I've been a bit late to the Blendabilities party! I've always said I really don't do colouring in as I have no real patience for it (this despite absolutely loving it at school and really enjoying using pastels for as long as I can remember!!).

I ordered some blendabilities really as a way of showing my lovely customers what they are and how they work, and have since discovered myself just how easy they are to use and how quick colouring in can actually be. The pens come as a pack of 3 which includes a light, medium and dark version of one colour - how easy is it to achieve the blended effect when you have these? The answer is super easy :-)

This is my very first attempt at using them and although you can see I perhaps need to be a little more careful about staying within the lines (rules are there to be broken I figure ;-)) the overall effect is not too bad. Practice obviously makes perfect and that's part of the fun of using them, as you progress really quickly and can achieve some lovely effects with just a little bit of patience.

If you would like to learn how to use these fab pens, and create some beautiful projects in the process, I'll be holding a class at the end of August (details on my side bar) so if you'd like to join in please do contact me. I'd love to hear from you.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
Thanks for popping by.

Kinda Eclectic

Hello,

Has anyone else been watching the golf? I've just watched Rory McIlroy win the 2014 Open, and he's still so young - fantastic that he stayed focused this time, well done Rory :-)
I know you've not visited to hear about the golf, so I'll get on to the crafting bit now ;-)

As I've now delivered most of the goodies to the lovely ladies who purchased items at my Open House, I'd like to show you the little card I put into each bag to say thank you.

I've used the fab new stamp set Kinda Eclectic, which I loved as soon as I saw it.  I can see this being a well loved set this year, perhaps even giving Gorgeous Grunge a run for it's money ;-)

I did take a few photos of my Open Day - I normally forget to do this so I'm quietly impressed with myself for remembering....although it's taken me a couple of weeks to get round to posting them (sorry!).
Some samples for inspiration...
The table groaning with my retired items ...
Coffee break....

The chocolate shortbread went down very well with everyone.
Will be back soon.
Have a great week.

Rainy Saturday! Sunny Sunday!

Hello,

I hope you're enjoying the tennis, the mens final always seems to be a thriller and this year is no exception. I have half an eye on the tv and half on typing this so please excuse any spelling mistakes ;-)

Here's the card we made yesterday as the M&T at my catalogue launch. Thank you so much to everyone who came along, and two lovely ladies who couldn't make it in person on the day - the sun tried and failed to come through but we had a lovely day nonetheless. A very special thank you to Debby for the house loan, and to Doreen for making all the refreshments...it did look a little like I was moving in when I starting bringing my boxes in, so I must have given Debby a bit of a fright considering her house is now all back in order after a few months of 'chaos'.

On to the card we made - the background is stamped with Basic Grey onto Lost Lagoon and then the flowers cascading down the edge are all layered up using glue dots and dimensionals. The leaves are from the Bird Builder punch and were tucked in just wherever they seemed to look best. I think it went down quite well with everyone, even though it took a bit longer than a usual M&T.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Petite Petals, Hardwood, A Dozen Thoughts

Colours - Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, Basic Grey
Punches - Petite Petal, Bird Builder, Itty Bitty Accents
Framelit Dies - Word Bubbles
Misc - Rhinestone Gems, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Thanks for visiting - I'm getting back to the tennis now ;-)

Petite Petals - New Catalogue Launch

Hello there,

Three posts in one week....I'm going to have to go and lie down in a quiet room for a while after this ;-)

Today I have a little sneak peek of the Make and Take my lovely ladies will be able to make on Saturday. My amazing friend Debby has very kindly lent me the use of her house for the morning, and we were hoping we might get a sunny day being July, but it doesn't look like the weather is going to play ball...it won't dampen our spirits though! Cakes and strawberries and cream are also on the agenda :-)

Will be back with the full card and hopefully some of the display items after the weekend.

Take care and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

Something for Baby

Hello,

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I have an Open House catalogue launch event coming up on Saturday, and me being me, am in what can only be termed a 'crisis management' situation....again! I do manage to get things together in the end though - thankfully! ;-)

I'm frantically making samples, and was hugely inspired by the ladies on the Inspiring Inkin' blog hop on Saturday, so at least I have loads of inspiration to keep me going.

I spent Saturday afternoon (the whole afternoon!...though I was doing the washing, cleaning and dusting as well lol) making this little gift box and matching card. There's a belly band around the box, which slides off so that the box can be opened.

I love the framelit dies which match the stamped images - it makes 'cutting' things out so much easier. You'll be able to order these from tomorrow. :-)

Supplies used:
Stamps - Something for Baby, Something to Say, Zoo Babies

Colours - Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, Night of Navy, Hello Honey, Marina Mist
Punches - Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack
Framelit Dies - Baby's First, Apothecary Accents
Misc - Lullaby DSP
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great week.

Inspiring Inkin Annual Catalogue 2014-2015 Launch Blog Hop

Good morning,

Today I'm really excited to be joining in with the Inspiring Inkin' Blog Hop, where 17 members of the team are bringing you fantastic projects using products from the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue which goes live on 1st July 2014. Not long to wait now ;-)

You can join the hop anywhere in the chain and hop along to the next talented team member by clicking on the next person on the list. Aren't all the projects fantastic - I'll be CASEing for sure ;-)

As my first love is scrapbooking I had to do something based around that, so my project is a little mini book using the gorgeous new Lullaby Designer Series Paper (DSP) - 12 double sided sheets of 12" x 12" paper, which I don't think is ever done true justice until you see it IRL. I've lost count of the amount of times I've looked at paper in a catalogue and thought nothing of it, and then seen it in real life and thought...why on earth haven't I bought this, it's gorgeous! Please don't tell me I'm the only one who does this!

This DSP is perfect for use with baby/toddler photos, although I've used it here to record a wedding day just to show how versatile it is. Envelopes used to create the inside of the mini book (which was made following a template I purchased) have been folded and cut to create little pockets, where I've added additional pull out sections making use of another new product, which is possibly my favourite item at the moment - I'm an Adminstrator by day...what can I say, filing and organisation is a bit of an obsession! ;-)

Supplies used:
Stamps - Everything Eleanor, Perfect Pennants, Petite Petals

Colours - Whisper White, Early Espresso, Hello Honey, Coastal Cabana
Punches - Bird Builder, Petite Petal
Framelit Dies - File Tab
Misc - Lullaby DSP, Rhinestone Gems, Paper Doilies, Whisper White Satin Ribbon, Whisper White Envelopes

I hope you're enjoying the hop. Use the links below to hop along the chain. If you're following in sequence then your next stop should be  to the very lovely Liz, check out her wonderful work and don't forget to leave us a comment if you're enjoying the hop :-)

I have a very simple offering today, again using the new In Colours for 2014-2016. There are lots of cards on Pinterest using this same kind of design, and I really like the speed at which you can produce them....great if you have lots of swaps to make ;-)

Colours - Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Basic Black
Punches - Petite Petal
On Saturday I'm joining in with my very first Blog Hop so do pop back then if you can.

Sneak Peak Hello Love

Hello,

Well, I finally got round to making something with my little pre-order stash which arrived last week :-)

This card is a CASE of one of the fab samples in the upcoming new Annual Catalogue. I loved it when I first saw it and although I'm not really one for cutting things out I couldn't resist having a go at this one. I love the little bird, so cute!

I've used 3 of the new in colours - Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss (still trying to learn all the new names!) ;-)

Hope to be back very soon with some more.
Thanks for popping by.

Show and Tell 2 - Photopolymer Stamps

What miserable weather today after the glorious sunshine yesterday! Yesterday I was running jogging in the Race for Life, and although running in the rain isn't a big deal it's much nicer when the sun's shining, so we were very lucky. It was great to join in such a worthwhile event, and it was also fab to see so many young people running too...it makes you believe that one day, with all the huge support and money raised for research into cancer, there will eventually be a cure. Here's hoping.

So to the card for today. I've used one of the Photopolymer stamp sets which you can currently receive free with any order over 60 pounds. This offer only runs until 31st May, so please do pop over to my online shop and check out the other sets available.

Have a fab week.

Lazy Sunday

Wow, what an absolutely glorious day it's been today. I've spent the afternoon sat down by a small stream watching cricket on the green and enjoying a fabulous picnic. A perfect lazy Sunday afternoon :-)
This week I have another scrapbook page for you, and I've used the lovely Dictionary stamp, which gives such a great image every time. I think this might be my favourite stamp at the moment. I've used sponge daubers to remove some of the ink from the stamp to create a softer look around the edge before actually stamping it. I could have perhaps done it even more but am quite happy with the result. The picture is my son and his dad on a visit to Paultons Park one rainy afternoon...though that didn't dampen his enthusiasm.
I don't remember too much about this particular day but I was showing my son some of the photos and he remembers it really clearly, even though it was when he was 3!
I can't decide on a title for this one so will have to put my thinking cap on and come up with something before I pop it in my album as finished.

Hope the fabulous weather lasts for the Bank Holiday next weekend - fingers crossed!
Have a lovely week.
Thanks for visiting

Tape It Invitation

Hello, long time no post eh! Thanks for continuing to pop by during my absence. My laptop is fixed now, so with any luck I'll get back to some more frequent posts...that's the intention anyway ;-)

Today is something really simple and straightforward and is very similar to something I saw whilst on Pinterest a while ago...now can I find the original, no sign of it anywhere, I mean how difficult would it have been to just pin it at the time. There's a lesson there but I can guarantee I won't learn it straight away! Thanks anyway to the original designer for the inspiration.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Tape It, Occasions Alphabet
Framelits - Word Bubbles
Colours - Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

This and That Scrapbooking

Sorry to have been absent, I'm having a few issues with my laptop which is a little frustrating....hopefully to be fixed next week fingers and toes crossed.

Today I have another scrapbook page made in my 'grungy' weekend phase. I love getting inky and don't 'make a mess' nearly enough, so when I finally get round to doing it I go for it ;-)
The cogs are not Stampin' Up! but everything else is and again I've managed to use Gorgeous Grunge...I do think I'd put that stamp set on every single item I make if I thought I'd get away with it :-)

I know my photos are a little dark and I'm working on getting things right...little by little. Big thank you to Debby for all your help as always...I'll get there eventually.

Have a fantastic Easter everyone.

That's the Ticket

Hello,

I'm hoping this will post....my laptop is currently encountering what I think can be described as technical difficulties, so I've got everything crossed it's going to work! ;-)

...and because I'm really not confident it will I'm keeping this short and sweet!

Supplies used:
Stamps - That's the Ticket, Gorgeous Grunge (again!), Banner Blast (SAB 2014)
Punches - Small Heart, 1"Circle, Ticket Duo Builder
Colours - Elegant Eggplant, Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Whisper White

Happy Watercolour - Stepped Up

Well I had a lovely time catching up with friends on Friday evening, and we even managed to get some cards made ;-)

One of the cards we made was featured in an earlier post, but also like to show a 'stepped up' version when I can, and this one was right up my street. I'm definitely into grungy at the moment :-)

I did some ripping and tearing and then hand stitched around the edges using linen thread. The hexagon hive thinlit die also features in the stepped up version, it did get to the stage of just stepping away from the card before I took it too OTT. I'm pleased with the end result though.

Thank you to my loyal and lovely friends for coming along to my first class at home :-)

Have a fab week everyone.

Easter Elegance DSP

Hello, I hope you enjoyed the sunshine yesterday....wasn't it glorious.
I have a really quick post today as I need to finish getting organized for the end of the week, and I know if I don't get it done tonight I'll be chasing my tail all week!

This is another 12 x 12 page using the Eastern Elegance DSP, and I've combined it with quite a few different dies (all scraps which I had left over from other projects and which just happened to be perfect for this little project) :-)

I've made a hidden journaling section which I'll write in before popping this in the album which my son will eventually have. I love that he and his children will be able to look at a photo and see the story that goes with it.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a fab week.

A weekend away

...and what a fun and inspiring weekend away it was too. I was away on a Scrapbook retreat with two lovely friends Debby and Doreen, and as the tables were quite large we were seated with a wonderful group of ladies who made us very welcome, and kept us in stitches all weekend with their extremely entertaining conversations. A very talented bunch they are too, as there were several challenges over the weekend...9 in all....and between them they won 5 of the 9. Well done ladies, and very well deserved.

As I was scrapbooking it goes without saying that I must have a scrapbook page for you today....and few close ups too. I was inspired by a stunning page that one of the ladies (Sam) did for a challenge where she distressed the edges of the paper. I haven't done this in such a long time and I'd forgotten just how much I love this style...the messier the better ;-)

....and a couple of close ups to see more of the detail.

Hope you have a great week.
Thanks for visiting.

Missed a day!

...and I was doing so well for a while, managing to post at least once a week, until now! Mind you, I only missed it by a day so I think I'll forgive myself ;-)

Today's offering is actually one of the cards my ladies will be making at my March card class in a couple of weeks, and is also very similar in layout to the make and takes I'm currently doing for parties. If you'd like to come along to the class on either the 21st or 22nd March then please do get in touch with me. Alternatively if you fancy having a party yourself (and perhaps earning yourself some freebies) then please email or call me, I'd love to show you how easy it is to create a beautiful card.

I now seem to have a smoke filled front room....burning toast really does make quite a thick haze doesn't it!! Off to rescue my kitchen before I need the Fire Brigade. Classes won't be subject to this I promise ;-)

Take care

Hostess Gift - Secret Garden

Wow, the weekend absolutely flew past!
I spent a really great couple of hours on Saturday at a party hosted by Lesley, a very lovely and talented lady who is always so gracious in welcoming me to her beautiful home.

I decided to make Lesley a hostess gift using the Envelope Punch Board. I take absolutely no credit for the box idea, there are lots of variations and videos on the internet showing how to create boxes of varying shapes and sizes using the board.

I prepared a matching card to go with the box, which I presented to Lesley as a thank you for hosting the party.

Thank you to the very appreciative group of ladies who attended, I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Secret Garden, Hardwood
Punches - Scalloped Top Tag Punch
Thinlits - Hexagon Hive, Secret Garden
Colours - Elegant Eggplant, Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Whisper White

Dictionary meets Papillon Potpourri

Has anyone else noticed the evenings becoming lighter now....I love it. Getting home from work while it's still daylight really does wonders for the soul.
I've had the Dictionary Stamp for quite some time now but hadn't even mounted it until last weekend! I'm not sure why it's taken me so long, as when I did finally get round to stamping with it the image turned out beautifully.
The background was created by stamping the dictionary in Basic Grey and then lightly sponging through the negative space of the Elegant Butterfly to create the slightly distressed look.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Papillon Potpourri, Dictionary, Happy Watercolour
Punches - Circles, Elegant Butterfly
Colours - Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black

Hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch

Sunday again already, and I'm playing catch up with housework today after spending a lovely day at Mj's crop in Thatcham yesterday with some very talented ladies who are always great company.

I was planning on entering the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week, but ended up with a card a bit less 'clean' than is needed, so have sidelined that for another day. Instead I have a scrapbook page today, loosely based on a sketch I saw on Pinterest.

I have lots of old photos which have a slight yellowish hue to them, which tends to make it difficult to find papers to use which make the most of them...as I've mentioned before (yawn! I know I bang on about this!) I think the picture should be the first thing that you are drawn to. I've used the fab Retro Fresh DSP which I find is really working well with my old photos. I wanted to keep the page quite simple and have added accents with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, which draw your eye around the page. Both of these items can be found in the Spring/Summer seasonal catalogue, which you can view if you click on the image on my sidebar.

The title is the only thing which isn't made using SU products.

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate you taking time to take a look.
Have a great week.

Happy Watercolour

Hello,
During the week I was stamping with a very talented lady, luckily for me she is also a member of my team, and after seeing what she was up to I was inspired to use the lovely new set Happy Watercolour again, along with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit...the hexagons are a little smaller than the Six Sided Sampler and were just the right size for what I wanted to do.

The poppy is really great to layer up but I wanted to focus on the iris this time. Like most of my card making I've kept this really clean, and mostly simple ;-)

I stamped the iris onto my card blank in Basic Black, and then lined up the hexagons on my grid paper (first using a small dot of snail on the back of each - and tapping against my trousers to remove some of the sticky) and stamped the image onto them. Then it's just a case of lining them up. I raised the hexagons up on some dimensionals, but they could be left flat.

I wasn't sure which one I preferred so have posted them both, perhaps the second one just needs an extra little pop of colour now I'm looking at it, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out.

An afternoon watching some of the Winter Olympics is now in order I think.
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the week ahead.

Last Valentine...

My last Valentine offering for you today. It's slightly ironic that despite making several Valentines cards it's highly unlikely that I'll actually be sending any... I'm beginning to think I might be getting a bit too fussy in my old age :-)

The colours I've used on this one are Raspberry Ripple, Sahara Sand, Basic Black and Whisper White.

Really quick post today as I'm trying to get my washing done a day early due to giving blood tomorrow evening. Wish me luck, it's the first time I'll be going on my own...not a fan of needles and it took some serious amount of persuasion from a friend to convince me in the first place, but in all honesty you don't even see the needle, and the ladies and gents who take you through the donation process are really lovely. If you've never given blood but have thought about doing it, and are a bit like me about needles, I'd really just encourage you to register - they are always looking for donors and it's not nearly as scary as you imagine it's going to be.

See you again soon.
Thanks for visiting.

Hello Valentine

February always seems like the bleakest month to me, not sure why, perhaps as I always think of it as the transition month from Winter to the beginning of Spring I just get a bit impatient for it to arrive! I love the thought of Spring being just around the corner... and it's wonderful to have seen a little sunshine today, and on a weekend too :-)

On to my card today and I'm back on a Valentines theme. I've used doily dies on this card as well as the little arrow from the Labelcard Thinlit (love the little elements in this set). The cute little 'hello' is from Perfect Pennants, a very versatile set featured in the Spring Summer seasonal catalogue. The colours I've used are Raspberry Ripple, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White and Coastal Cabana.

Hope you have a great week ahead.
Thanks for taking time to visit.

SAB and a new Spring Summer Seasonal Catalogue

Hello and welcome, boy have we got loads of new stuff going on today! Not only does the annual Sale-A-Bration (SAB) event kick off today, but we also have a brand new Spring Summer Seasonal Catalogue to tempt you too.

During Sale a Bration, which runs until 31 March 2014, for every 45 pounds you spend on SU products you can choose an item from the SAB brochure for free :-) You can take a look at the brochure by clicking on the picture on my side bar.

I've made a simple card today using 'Happy Watercolour', a lovely new stamp set in the Spring Summer catalogue. I've stamped the flower image twice in Basic Black onto Calypso Coral card, and then cut the image out and layered it up using dimensionals. Not a great shot of the layering from this angle, but believe me when I say this certainly has loads of dimension IRL. The 'Thank You' sentiment is from the same set and has been stamped in Basic Black onto Crumb Cake card, and then mounted onto a Whisper White card base. With the addition of a few gems, some linen thread and a couple of punched Calypso Coral elements you're done.

Please do contact me if you'd like to book a party during SAB.

Have a great week.
Thanks for stopping by
